The HP mini 311 works well BUT it has one major flaw. It will not boot if using a wireless mouse (Microsoft or Logitech) which utilizes a USB nano-transceiver. The netbook hangs at the HP boot screen which most likely indicates a BIOS problem. The mice will work if the transceiver is plugged in after the boot is complete. I would wait to buy until the BIOS is updated if you like to use a wireless mouse with a netbook. Otherwise a great netbook.
Everybody loves Windows 7 nowadays with its superb features.I was so excited to experience it the first time in this netbook, but it made the battery life lesser to only a maximum of 4 hrs for a 6-cell battery, maybe a 12-cell battery would be better. Also, the Nvidia Ion’s shared memory makes the netbook hang especially when doing multi-tasking. I think I have to upgrade to 3gb ram. With all these flaws, Windows XP could have been better especially because it gives you more battery life. In addition to that, playing 720p HD movies is a painful task, just forget it.
It’s SMALL but SMART enough to Net Surfin’ and e-mailing.
Pretty QUICK to turn on with NO STRESS.
I like it and I recommend because it’s more than a VALUE for MONEY.
Great netbook. I opted for more memory and a larger hard drive. A little higher in price but it’s worth it. Scroll takes some getting used to. It could be me since the pad is new to me. Battery life is 40% after about 4 hours. I’d recommend Windows 7. It’s easy to use and has no trouble finding and connecting to wireless access points. Watch when buying a case for it. Since it’s slighter larger than most, take the netbook with you. I bought a Swissgear case from Target which fits it well and has a carrying handle.
I love my HP mini, works great easy to use and carry around. I got it in three days a lot faster than I thought.
The key board is easy to use, its fast, plenty of memory, and space for what I need. Its not a 17” but that’s not what I
wanted, I have desktop wiht 8gb and 1tb of space so this mini is just to carry around and when I travel its great.
