Do not like this camera at all! It has a very bad delay so horrible at taking kids pictures. I am sure if just using to take still objects it is a nice camera with great features but do NOT recommend it to take pics of anything that moves. I will be returning it.
I love my new camera. I purchased it once I saw my friend’s camera. I am happy that I purchased the camera on Amazon because I would have spent over $80 more purchasing it at BestBuy. I had a HP camera about 4-5 yrs ago but the touch option and the scene options makes each picture turn out great. I researched the best camera for the past 2yrs and according to Consumer Reports in 2009 Nikon was the best for easy to use cameras and great pics!
As with most Nikon products the camera is made very well, but the S70 is not designed very well. Since the device has a touch-screen feature that interferes with taking pictures. The device should have a physical border that allows the user to hold the camera without activating the touch screen.
Myself and a number of family and friends tried using the camera, but we all the same issue with touch-screen interfering with picture taking. Nikon should have performed some additional usability tests with actual end-users, this is simple issue to resolve by either shrinking the touch-screen surface size in increase camera body size. Either solution would allow the user to hold the camera without touching the touch-screen.
Have this black nikon s70 for two weeks and loving every bit of it!!! very easy to use with auto mode! loving the touch screen tech and clarity of video !! use when i went snowboarding, ,am amazed at how the pictures turn out to be clear on fast moving object! am getting another one since i lost mine in the ski resort restroom!bummer!
Have to get another one regardless the price, just loving this camera!
the size is slightly bigger and its not slim, but its OK. the 5x zoom works wonder with the touch screen zoom in and out! i am in no way a camera expert but this camera has a lot of features yet easy to use!gonna buy another one now!!look around and u will find a deal, i got the first one for $255 from adorama and this one frm amazon for $232.49!! what a deal! =)
I have not tried the S70 yet (so disregard star rating) but I have noticed several reviews with the other color models noting frustrations about poor image quality. I also saw in the CNET Editor’s review that they suggested that the user sets the Auto ISO limit to 80-200 for best results in most conditions and 80-400 max under difficult lighting conditions. So anyone who is experiencing photo quality issues might want to try that to see if it has a dramatic improvement. CNET said the pictures were “very good for a snapshot camera” once those settings have been changed. My guess is for some reason the camera is trying to take a ridiculously high ISO (1200-6400) and producing grainier photos as a result. As Wikipedia explains regarding ISO speeds, “In both digital and film photography, the reduction of exposure corresponding to use of higher sensitivities generally leads to reduced image quality (via coarser film grain or higher image noise of other types).” If that is in fact the problem it would still be a design flaw but one with perhaps a simple and tolerable workaround.
From the CNET S70 review:
“The photo quality from the S70 is very good for a snapshot camera…The camera lets you limit the auto ISO range to either 80-200 or 80-400. If you’re in daylight or bright conditions, I recommend locking it down to 80-200. Again, it did perform well through ISO 400, but it’s at its best below ISO 200.”

Good luck with that workaround.
I still like the specs of this camera so plan to check it out at the local Best Buy with my own SD card and I will be playing with these settings and I will update my review once I have.
