I’m using this notebook as a desktop replacement and couldn’t be happier. I’ve had this product less than 1 month, so I still have a lot to learn. There appears to be a lot of extra software that will not be necessary for my needs. The wide screen is bright and clear. I considered a larger notebook, but am pleased I went with the 16.4″ instead; it’s not too cumbersome for mobility, yet large enough to work with 2 windows side-by-side. One time, I contacted Sony for support, and they were excellent. Amazon and its supplier were outstanding in keeping me informed about my order, and it arrived earlier than I expected. The wireless capablilities are just one other feature I love. I couldn’t be more pleased.
I just got this laptop last week after doing indepth research of all available laptops in this price range and from different vendors like IBM, DELL, HP etc and I must say that I am glad that I got this one. The screen looks awesome and the bluray movies play like a charm. I am loving every bit of it. No complaints as such on any issues except that the top part of Black color is not as smooth as other vaio models but this is by far one of the best laptops that I have seen in this price range..I will surely recommend to go for it.
This laptop feels every bit of the 6.7lbs that Sony states that it weighs. However, it is a nice alternative to sitting at a desk or even watching the occassional Blu-Ray movie. The screen is nice and crisp, but blacks tend to look more like a charcoal color. The keyboard is great and touchpad has a good feel. The mouse buttons are a bit stiff and are somewhat loud compared to other Vaio laptops I’ve owned. If you’re planning to take it on the road, be sure to purchase the extended life battery. The standard battery shipped with the FW lasts a little under 2hrs under normal operation. Overall a good laptop, but not exactly ‘portable’.
